Dear customers, partners and friends,

We would like to wish you a pleasant Christmas and a new year full of happiness, health and success.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, which has brought with it many challenges for the second year, we have not let up and are ending 2021 successfully. We are approaching 900 orders received by the end of the year. At the same time, thanks to the acquisitions of our major suppliers, we have expanded our product portfolio this year to include products from crystal and modulator manufacturer EOT, as well as Janis, which manufactures cryostats.

We thank you for your goodwill, which enables us to participate in interesting projects and implementations, and we look forward to further cooperation.

And how was 2021 at OptiXs?

Interesting installations

FEMTOSECOND PUMP-PROBE SPECTROMETER

In July 2021, we upgraded the EOS nanosecond TA spectrometer to the HELIOS FIRE femtosecond pump-probe spectrometer for the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS. The new system can cover the time scale from microseconds to femtoseconds and allows recording transient absorption from 350 nm to 1600 nm.

CUSTOM PLANAR MIRRORS FOR 30 J, 30 FS @ 810 NM PETAWATT LASER BEAM

In September 2021, we completed a phased delivery of custom optics for the Institute of Physics, v. v. i., ELI Laser Center. A total of 5 pieces of planar mirror substrates were produced with an option for up to a total of 13 pieces. The substrates were made of HPFS 7980 mirror grade material, size 440 x 290 mm, thickness 75 mm. Key parameters of the mirrors include vacuum compatibility of 1E-6 mbar (<0.1% RH; 20°C), surface flatness < 90 nm P-V, < 18 nm RMS, and surface roughness Rq < 1 nm.

LIBS SPECTROSCOPY ASSEMBLY

Another one of our realizations consisted in the extension of the assembly (Nd:YAG laser, vacuum chamber, spectrograph) for LIBS spectroscopy for the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v. v. i. The new assembly has an optical path inside the vacuum chamber, focusing optics for the laser, sample displacement in the XYZ axes and a view camera allowing precise focusing of the laser beam on the sample surface. In addition, it allows for surface analysis and the creation of 2D maps of elemental distribution in the sample, collection and analysis of microplasma radiation, and automatic sample displacement.

OPTICAL LITHOGRAPHY FOR STRUCTURE FORMATION FOR SPINTRONICS

In August, we installed a Microwriter ML3 Pro laser lithography system from Durham Magneto Optics Ltd. at theInstitute of Physics ofthe CAS, Department of Spintronics and Nanoelectronics. Its main use will be to create structures for spintronics.

Shared experiences

CYCLE FLIGHT

In the summer we traditionally went on a bike trip, but this time our bikes headed along the picturesque Berounka River. The trip was not without great sportsmanship, beer tasting in microbreweries and undying good mood, which was not disturbed even by rain and puncture.

FAMILY WEEKEND IN CZECHOSLOVAK SWITZERLAND

At the end of September, we put on our hiking boots with our families and went hiking in Czechoslovak Switzerland. During the day we conquered tourist destinations, in the evenings we rewarded ourselves with social activities and barbecues. The highlight of the trip was the 12 m ferrata, which was also climbed by children.
