Spinning Disk Confocal - Andor

An English term for wide-field microscopy (or full-field imaging - all points of the imaged object are observed simultaneously, the resulting image is a superposition of the point spread function of the individual points of the imaged object). Lamps or LEDs are usually used for excitation, or lasers (laser -based widefield available on some SDCMs). If detection is required, scientific cameras are used exclusively. Excitation intensities are very low and the sensing speed depends only on the speed of the camera.
