Client assignment

The client required the supply of a continuous light source with a tunable wavelength. The wavelength range had to be at least 200-2000 nm.

It had to include a monochromator fitted with at least three diffraction gratings with a spectral efficiency characteristic of more than 40% over the entire 200-2000 nm range.

The monochromator had to be equipped with variable slits and computer-controlled filters to remove higher diffraction orders.

The output of the system had to be efficiently coupled to an optical fibre that guaranteed a transmittance of at least 30% m-1i at 200 nm.

Our solution

For this assignment, we chose the compact, tunable light source MLS-450-300 (QD Europe) with UV Xe lamp, powerful monochromator and optimized fiber output.

The output of the system was efficiently coupled into an optical beam with a transmittance ≥ 30% m-1 in the 200-1350 nm range.
