Particle Size Analyzer

The particle size analyzers from CPS, which is represented in Europe by LOT Quantum Design, use a differential sedimentation method in a centrifugal field that allows them to measure much smaller particles than conventional gravity field sedimentation. Depending on the type of sample and model used, they are able to detect particles ranging in size from 3 nm to 100 um.

Key features

  • Measurement of particles in the size range 3 nm - 100 μm
  • Use of sedimentation in a centrifugal field
  • High resolution (typically 2%)
  • High accuracy (typically 0.25%)
  • Comparison with a known calibration standard
  • Rotational frequency up to 24000 min-1
  • Excellent repeatability (typically 0.5%)
  • Measurements in almost all types of liquids
  • Module for measuring low density particles
  • Ability to measure samples with a wide size distribution (dynamic range up to 1000)

Extension of disc centrifuges

Možnosti rozšíření analyzátoru velikosti částic

Four basic extensions are available for CPS disc centrifuges:

  • Wide dynamic range module - by gradually increasing the rotational speed, a dynamic range of ~1000 can be achieved.
  • Low density particle module - the disc is designed so that very light particles rise to the surface of the appropriate liquid during analysis instead of sinking to the bottom of the chamber
  • Module for automatic sample injection -automatic dispenser
  • Module for the automatic generation of a density gradient in the disc chamber

Application

Parameters

There are three basic models of CPS disc centrifuges according to the maximum achievable rotation frequency:

  • DC 12000 max. 12000 rpm, particle size range: 40 nm - 100 μm
  • DC 18000 max. 18000 rpm, particle size range: 20 nm - 100 μm
  • DC 24000 UHR max. 24000 rpm, particle size range: 3 nm - 100 μm

Each of these models is supplied with two calibration standards, a density gradient kit, a PC with operating software and a user manual.
