Edinburgh Instruments, the world's leading manufacturer of luminescence spectrometers, has introduced a new version of its popular FLS1000 fluorimeter for measurements in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region of the spectrum. Since VUV radiation (~10 nm to ~200 nm) is absorbed by air, maintaining vacuum conditions is essential for the spectrometer to function properly.

The FLS1000-VUV is available in 4 basic configurations:

Designation Excitation range, detection Measurement mode
FLS1000-VUV-SVS2-s VUV excitation & VIS detection Steady state
FLS1000-VUV-SVS2-st VUV excitation & VIS detection Steady state & TCSPC (fluorescence lifetime)
FLS1000-VUV-SVSV-s VUV excitation & VUV detection Steady state
FLS1000-VUV-SVSV-st VUV excitation & VUV detection Steady state & TCSPC (fluorescence lifetime)
Key Features:
  • VUV excitation monochromator and D2 lamp covering 115 - 400 nm
  • Up to two light sources and two detectors
  • Vacuum sample chamber to maximize efficiency
  • Holder for solid-state samples included
  • Powerful TCSPC electronics for time-resolved VUV photoluminescence
  • VUV emission arm with monochromator (up to three diffraction gratings) and vacuum photomultiplier
  • Temperature dependence measurement capability using an optical cryostat
